Hey McSlash,

Kopfdorfer here.
I am not directly associated with any squad as a registered member , but I have previously been with the 352nd VFG ,
and have been flying recently with the Aces High. While I do count on the possibility of including either or both of these groups
in my proposal , I am not officially connected with either .

I am operating on my own initiative here.

In the interest of fostering some online inter-group activity , I would like to host a full length multi-group mission , inviting several
groups that I have been loosely associated with to participate. I am approaching your group largely because I see members of your group
commonly on Hyperlobby , and because of your (McSlash) obvious commitment to the overall community by way of your
Battlefields Servers work.

I am ultimately hoping that the interest of enjoying flying IL2 1946 will lead a few of the groups I approach to participate.
Hopefully it might also lay the groundwork for further relationships amongst the participant groups as well.
I also have the advantage that since I am not directly associated with any group , there should be no question of me playing
favourites in terms of building the scenario - I may screw up the balance , but it will be due my own ineptitude rather
than a squad bias !
In this case I would immediately offer the opportunity to repeat the mission , with Red/Blue roles reversed.

The Mission - "The Tokyo Club"

This is my concept for a full length ( approx. 4 hours) Mission featuring B-29s and P-51s out of Iwo Jima in 1945 on an escorted bombing mission over Honshu Japan.
I realize that every group flies somewhat different settings to suit their skill level and experience , and that no matter what settings are chosen , they may be less than optimal for some groups according to your normal usage.
If you agree to participate in this mission , you are also agreeing to the settings that I have chosen in the spirit of getting a number of people together to fly this great old simulation.

Planeset :
Allied
B-29 1944 4 Sqdns
P-51D-20NT 3 Sqdns

Axis
A6M5c
A6M7-62
D4Y3S
J1N1-S
Ki-44-II
Ki-45 Tai Kei
Ki-46 Otsu
Ki-84
Ki-100-I-Ko
J2M5
N1K2-Ja

Technical :
-Installation Used : HSFX7.03
-Map used : Kanto Plain (JSGME)

-Mods Enabled (IN THIS ORDER)
HSFX History
Expert Mode
Kanto Plain Map (jsgme)

-All participants must use Teamspeak 3
-The Mission will be in Dogfight format , in order to permit comings
and goings during the long Mission length (estimated 3-4 hours duration).
Allied Squads need to commit to the full 4 hour period.
Those that can't or won't commit to the full period will fly Blue.

-MDS Fog of War settings will be used (MDS radar will be enabled).
HUD Icons will be on , but range will be quite limited.
-Realistic Navigation will be used.
-Exterior Views will be limited to Player’s own view and static cameras.

-Both sides will have a finite supply of aircraft.
If you run out , you run out.

-There will be a password issued on the day of the Mission verbally
over Teamspeak 3.

I will provide a Skin Pack.
If players wish to use customized skins , I would ask that they limit it to adding noseart and/or codes to the provided
skins.
No track recording.
These choices are designed to enhance framerates for everyone , and to provide an immersive environment.

Your group will be welcome to participate as a group , or as individuals.
Priority of choice of Army Squadron and Aircraft Type will be to Groups over individuals , and on the basis of
earliest commitment to participate.

I must underline the fact that while I do have some experience flying online both in a group and as an individual ,
I am somewhat new to this organizational end of things , so I'd ask for a litle latitude if I do not follow some expected
protocol - I do learn eventually , so any advice would be appreciated.

I look forward to hearing what you think about this idea , and I hope you and your squad , or some individual pilots may find the idea interesting enough to participate.

I can be reached on SAS , M4T , SEOWHQ , Hyperlobby , or simply send me an email.

Sincerely ,

Kopfdorfer

Thanks for the notice, and thanks for taking the initiative!
I will share this with everyone I can.
I will respond with more in a day or two.

I’m definitely up for some of this!
It will be a good opportunity for us all to get together on ‘46 again too,
I would prefer closed pit, realistic settings personally, but also think cockpit only with externals and NO! Enemy views or padlock would be a good alternative to please more people.

I'm interested but will wait to see what the full server settings are and when the mission will take place.
For me to participate personally, it would need to be closed pit (cockpit always on) and no air padlock and no ground padlock.

Can you provide them at the earliest opportunity as we are unable to commit either way without knowing such details.

My aim is to hold the mission on Saturday April 7 at 1800hrs Atlantic (my local) Time.
I chose this as a compromise designed to appeal to the largest number of participants (including
Europe and Australia).
I propose to have a test and briefing for all participants one week earlier 31 March 1800hrs Atlantic Time.
The test and meeting should take no longer than an hour or so.

The settings , like the time selection are a compromise to attempt to include the largest number of participants.
While I would prefer full switch , I believe I have to ease back on this a bit.

Version HSFX 7.0.3
History Mod enabled
Expert Mode enabled
Kanto Map (JSGME activated) - included in my "Mission Package"

There will be HUD icons enabled , but they will be at extremely low settings.
No Padlock
External Views limited to own aircraft (Padre I am with you here on no externals , but again I am making a compromise in exchange for participation - I hope)
Realistic Navigation will be ON.
Both sides will have beacons.
MDS Radar will be enabled.

The Mission will be in Dogfight Mode to allow for late arrivers , and to preclude accidents and early deaths from
preventing an inexperienced flyer from a positive experience. Given the intended length this is a reasonable compromise.
The trade off , is that no one can fly as a gunner only.

Squads will need to determine whether they wish to fly as a Red Bomber , Red Escort , or Blue Fighter Sqdn.
If any group has enough numbers , they may fly more than one group.

I know that the route of compromise will never satisfy everyone , but my goal is to get a bunch of folks flying a mission together online , and hopefully if it goes well we can tweak up the realism settings next time we try it.

I'm optimistic that the initial response is encouraging.

Thanks for the info @Kopfdorfer.

Just so I can clarify the settings, will users be able to remove their cockpit from view in the "wonderwoman" mode?
In server settings it's called "Cockpit Always On" and checked if you are limited to shooting from inside the pit, or unchecked and you can cycle through pit, pit removed with circle and dot or crosshair with or without digital guages?

As for your mission time, what is your relation to GMT? I am not sure of what time zone is "Atlantic".

As long as the settings are good I can see us wanting to put up probably at least one P-51 fighter group and one B-29 bomber flight on red side.

If you'd like to come onto our teamspeak and chat to us, you can find the details HERE
There are some questions I'd like to ask.

@334th_Padre, Atlantic is UTC -3 (Kopfdorfer, where are you, Newfoundland?) so it kind of depends on Newfoundland having DST or not.
