ATAG SAR mission

Post by 334th_Eddie » Wed Feb 07, 2018 7:04 am

Hello,

Wondering has anyone else attempted the SAR mission on the ATAG server? It's the one where you have to land in a field with a Blenheim and pickup an SOE agent. It's a lot of fun. On my first attempt I found the location, but couldn't find any markers. Another attempt another day, found the spot. Was 3 wind mills in a row so easier to spot. Nice big long field to land in. I found a red cross on the ground and taxied next to it, however, when I did the mission command for the agent to board, said I wasn't close enough. Mission was in the end count down phase so maybe that's why.

It's a super fun mission and great for navigational skills. Had to do a bit of training first with field landings and take offs before I headed over the channel. I'll try and take some photos next time.

Hi Eddie,

I have not seen that mission yet. It's possible one of the others might have come across it.
Personally I'm not very involved with ground targetting at the moment, and haven't read many briefings. It's such a steep learning curve for me trying to learn a new sim, a head tracker and closed pit. I'm lagging far behind the others at the moment.

Yeah it has been a really steep learning curve for me too, even just to get the game playing without too many stutters. I had to overclock my CPU! One nice thing about the ground targeting is, you can just bomb runways and help the cause by putting them out of action without needing to be particularly accurate. Rear gunning is trickier that 1946. I've had a few kills, I've switched my ammo belt to mostly incendiaries which has seemed to help. I also found I had to increase the mouse sensitivity for this. Anyway, my plan is to focus on Blenheim for time being will hopefully crack this mission and make a guide :)

NB I've found I've gravitated towards the bombers as can get away without a head tracker and feels less of a big deal being closed pit as not doing too much manoeuvre anyway!
